The characteristic features of modern terrorism in Western Europe and all over the World are reflected in the widely disseminated terms describing this phenomenon, including the religious grounds of terrorism, mediality and internationalization of terrorism, suicidal terror attacks and the lack of self-limitation of terrorists in the use of violence and rape, disinstitutionality and quasi-state structures of terrorist organizations, cyber-terrorism and super-terrorism.
In 2019, deaths from terrorism fell for the fifth consecutive year, after peaking in 2014.
The primary driver of this reduction in the number of deaths from terrorism has been a fall in the intensity of conflict in the Middle East, and the subsequent decline of ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
Terrorism remains a widespread problem.
Thus, the purpose of this course work will be to explore the characteristics and features of modern terrorism in Western Europe.
